Kurks are mammals and are strictly herbivores. Early in their evolution, they were preyed upon by other species. This forced them to become very agile. As more intelligent predators hunted them, they became more organized to fight off the hunters. Because they were hunted often, they where the first race to develop the first non-hand thrown projectile weapon. The weapon they developed was the crossbow and could easily be used by skilled and non-skilled, unlike the Humun bows (developed about the same time). Since the Kurk do not hunt, the crossbow and other weapons are used for defense. Even today individuals from other races still try to acquire they tasty meat of a Kurk, no to mention their quality fur. However, most governments ban the sale of Kurk meat and fur as not to offend Kurkish leaders and start a war. This is because even though Kurks live in city-states (like other races), their city-states have strong allegiances with each other. Attacking one city-state would mean reprisals from every Kurk city-state in the region. This unity is unique amongst the Kurk and is one reason they still exist today.
